Planning a wedding/formal is stressful enough, your tan doesn't have to be! We always recommend scheduling a trial tan at least 2+ weeks before your big day
(perfect to before your hair/makeup trial, bachelorette party etc)
What to know...
We highly recommend booking a trial tan appointment at least 4 weeks prior to your event.
This way you can test the colour and see how it wears, and ensure any remaining residue comes off in time before your event. A great time for this is the hen’s party so you can see how you like the colour in photos.
Timing is the Name of the Game:Timing is everything when it comes to spray tanning success. Book your spray tan session 1-3 days before your event – it needs time to work its magic, and you want to wash off any extra solution to keep your dress stain-free.
Steer clear of piling up beauty treatments on the same day – your spray tan deserves its own spotlight. And make sure it comes after your dress fittings – you want the tan to complement your final bridal look, not the other way around.
When booking your final spray tan, we recommend doing this 48hrs in advance. So if it’s a Saturday wedding, book in for Thursday evening.
To make the most of your tan, you need to invest in a good exfoliation mitt, nourishing moisturiser and gradual tanner.
One of the leading causes of a patchy tan is a lack of exfoliating and not moisturising well enough in the weeks leading up to the event. Tanning solution tends to hold onto dry skin more, so if you haven’t exfoliated, this skin is more likely to lift prematurely and as such, result in a patchy finish.
To help extend the life of your tan with a nice even finish, make sure you have a gradual tanner with you at all times. Not only do they have the added benefit of increased hydration but they’re perfect for adding depth to areas where the tan may start to lift.
If you are having a makeup trial, try to time this around your tan trial as well. This way the makeup artist can match the foundation to your tanned skin tone. Similarly, if you are buying the foundation your self. We specialise in giving you a natural glowy face, however check with your makeup artist if they have a preference on your face being sprayed. if you have any type of sport activity between your tan and your formal, then time your tan AFTER this.

The style of your dress is important. If you’re wearing a strapless or low back dress, ensure you scrub those harder to reach places and to be safe, avoid wearing a bra after your tan so that you don’t leave any bra strap marks in these areas.

Prep & Maintain
Get exfoliating, girl! Three days before your appointment is usually a good time to start. Then, exfoliate gently again on the night before or morning of your tan and remove any unwanted hair.
Stay out of the sun leading up to your tan. We can’t tell you how important this is! Unfortunately spray tanning on sunburnt or peeling skin just doesn’t work. Your poor damaged skin wants to peel off and refresh, leaving you with patchy colour. Lather on the SPF and leave the bronze up to the experts.
PRE TANShower and exfoliate your skin Do not apply moisturiser, perfume or deodorant We advise any hair removal to be done at least 24 hours before your appointment to ensure that your tan will go on evenly and not irritate your skin Remove all jewellery before your appointment If you are having taking any skin medication (Roaccutance etc) please detail this in the booking notes so we can ensure we recommend the best product to suit.
POST TANAfter your tan, we recommend wearing loose, dark clothing and flip flops. Ensure you are covered head to toe if the weather is wet to avoid any raindrops on your new tan. After your appointment, it is normal to look a lot darker. Don’t panic, this is just the bronzer in the tan so we can see where we are spraying. It will all wash off with your first shower, leaving your natural bronzed looking skin developing underneath.
If you have an express tan, do not use any soap when you first have a shower. Rinse off the tan residue with water and softly pat your skin dry. It will look like it has all come off but don’t worry, your tan will continue to develop over the next 6-8 hoursIf you sleep in your tan, please be aware tan residue can transfer onto your sheets and pyjamasAvoid using deodorant, perfume, or moisturiser until the next dayAvoid excess sweating or swimming for the first 24 hours after your tan Tan transfer can occur on the inside of boned wedding dresses (where it's rubbing on your skin), this generally comes off when having your dress dry cleaned after your big day.
If you are having a Destination Wedding and need to tan prior to the 2 days, please get in touch to discuss our recommendations, we can't promise we won't try and sneak into your suitcase!
If you are headed away on your honeymoon straight after your wedding, don't forget to buy a tan extender in salon, a great way to prolong your glow whilst you are away.
If you are wearing a white outfit and are worried about tan rubbing off onto your clothing, we suggest having 2 initial showers to ensure all the tan residue has been removed.
